Trading in the Porsche for a Minivan
Nothing says “Welcome to Parenthood” as the moment you sell your 2-seater Porsche Boxster Convertible:
And immediately replace it with an 8-seater Honda Odyssey Minivan:
That moment happened today for me.
I know the baby will be much safer than if he was riding around in the passenger seat of the Porsche Boxster Convertible! And, the Honda is actually pretty fun to drive, too. Not a convertible, but it does have a moonroof. A “Parental Convertible”, if you will…

We've had our Odyssey for 7 years now, and it's my favorite vehicle to drive. I'll probably just buy another one when the time comes to replace it.
By the way, nice blog! Found you through RebelDad.
You chose well. I've tested most of the minivans out there (I'm and editor at Cars.com) and the Odyssey is still the best.
Idaho Dad:
Thanks! We bought the van on Friday, then drove 450 miles on Monday down to Palm Springs - and I loved the ride. Very comfortable, plenty of power, and a very smooth engine. You can definitely cruise in that thing, and it makes for a very private breastfeeding environment in the back seat for my wife. We're very happy with the choice.
And, A Family Runs Through it is on of my daily reads and featured in my Blog Roll. Very well written and informative!

Thanks for the confirmation on the purchase of the Odyssey. I love cars.com and have used them for years.
We got a great deal on the Odyssey - about $2900 under invoice. Now is a great time to buy. I worked three different local Honda dealers to get the best price - and they all had a ton of inventory. In reflecting back, I think I could have gotten the car for even a few hundred dollars less if I wanted to go through one more round of phone calls with the dealers (it's great - you can do all the negotiating on the phone now).
Best,
-Brian
